Jim Schultz bought his first hearse in 1980. Between Jim and Amy they've owned a series of 12 pro cars before their focus shifted to Cotner/Bevingtons. They live in Columbus, OH and they're both Ohio Chapter PCS members- Amy is chapter prez. They have some great stories and photos on their Auto Graveyard page, including the transportation of a late dog to the crematory in his 77 M-M electric 3-way!
When you're building a collection, at some point you may decide that you'd like a more coherent plan, rather than acquiring everything that catches your eye. Jim and Amy decided to specialize in Cotner/Bevington Oldsmobiles.
Their 72 Combination was owned by the Cotner funeral home in Reynoldsburg, OH. The funeral home had mounted a Federal speaker under the hood, which blocked the radiator and caused cooling problems. Unable to find the source of the problem, the funeral home disconnected the A/C and gave it the job of service car- for customer pick-ups, that is.
![]() The Schultzes bought the car at a bargain price from CW Coach, removed the speaker, and reconnected the A/C. Now it's a happy little combo! It's got Miller-Meteor style roller panels in the back. ( Or do the M-M's have C/B style panels ? ) |
You can see more exterior and interior photos on their 72 C/B Combination page.
Their collection now includes 72, 74, and 75 C/B pro cars. Inquiring minds want to know- is their grand scheme to have an example from every year of C/B production?
... more to come!
